Notice the not very surprising similarity between Kamandi's Grandfather and Superman's Father - Jor-elle. ( For fans of the Superman Films he certainly does look like Marlon Brando ) also note the Warner sign behind them.

Dr. Canus in my view is basically "Bones" Mcoy from Star Trek and the old doctor from Space 1999 with the added qualities of your common house dog. He has a lot of personality and he even gets to fall in love. Easy stuff for a dog. |

Ben, there is always a Ben. Ben is basically a combination of Nick Fury from his Howling Commando's days and Benjamin Grimm from the Fantastic Four. He is stalwart, upstanding, uncompromising, and unstoppable. And a nice guy too.

Tuftan, He's Cool, He's Hip, He is Ceasar's Son. As the dude being groomed to become Emperor when dear old dad passes on, all the responsibility is getting to him. He does not always like his fathers ways but, he must prove himself and put on the show for the troops. Still a teenager like Kamandi, he genuinely is Kamandi's best friend.

Kamandi's first Girlfriend, perfect, gorgeous, wonderful, everything you want in a girl. you know the type. That girl in high school who was awesome to behold, that every time you got near her you found that you could not even speak. well it's her. (for the lady's among us remember that girl in school who never did anything wrong, always looked good but really annoyed you. well...it's her.) |

Animals in Kamandi's World are what is left of the human race with only Kamandi being truly human. Although of course he is a prime specimen. Very much like the humans in The Planet of the Apes. |

Well, just to blow the whole whistle here, in case you haven't worked it out.... OMAC is Kamandi's Grandfather. Buddy Blank, who is descended from the union of Superman and Lois Lane. Which is why he survived taking the Super Soldier serum that was given to him (same stuff that Captain America took) So basically if you gave the offspring of Superman the Captain America Super Soldier stuff you get OMAC. Which if you have read the above ties in nicely to John Byrnes 4 Issue OMAC series, which to me makes this Kamandi's grandmother (sorry John it was just too good to pass up) Also this is what Kamandi's grandma would look like if EARTH AD had not happened. (not bad, eh) Of Course there are a lot more characters than just the ones listed above. Great characters like Sultan, Uglash, Pyra, Caesar, Sacker and a lot more! This is only the beginning.
